Flaky Croissants Baked in Sweetened Cream
Prep Time: 45 min. Cook Time: 60 min. Total Time: 1 hr 45 min
Ingredients
- 6 large croissants, torn into 1-inch pieces
- 4 cups heavy cream
- 7 egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 225 F degrees.
- Tear the 6 croissants into approximately 1 inch pieces. Add the croissants to a 9 x 9 inch baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the 4 cups of cream, the 7 egg yolks, the 3/4 cup of sugar, and the 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Pour the cream mixture over the croissants and let soak in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.
- Bake the bread pudding for 50 minutes to an hour, until the custard is set and jiggles slightly when gently shaken. If desired, place the bread pudding under the broiler for 2 to 5 minutes until the top turns a deep golden color and is lightly crispy.
